Athletics Unit Starting

After the Water Festival Holiday we will be starting a new unit in PE. All students will be participating in an Athletics Unit, where they will be participating in a range of age appropriate running, throwing and jumping activities. It will cumilate in our annual Sports Days, which this year will be held in December.

All students will need to be wearing appropriate sport shoes for PE lessons. We also strongly recommend that student wear a hat to PE and come to school wearing a high factor sunblock. Water is available at the field and students need to bring their water bottles with them to each class.

KG-Grade 5 Students - lessons will take place on the school field just off St380. Students will be transported back and forth in hired buses.

EY2 students - lessons will still be held on the EYC campus.

ISPP Swim Meets

This week we hosted iCAN and the French School for the first meet to be held in our new pool. As you can see from the photos the pool and swimmers looked great!

Just a brief reminder about our Invitational Swim Meet on November 28 & 29th.

We need parent help - if you can help out on the day or host visiting swimmers, please complete this sign up form. At present we need about another 40 ISPP families to step forward to volunteer to host swimmers.

Swimmer sign up - If your child is participating, please can you go through with them which events they want to take part in and complete this form. We have to have a time for each swimmer for each event they plan to take part in. We got lots of times last Monday and want to get more next week

Angkor Wat Trip - 2nd Sunday Bike Ride

Just a quick reminder that the second 'Sunday Morning Bike Ride Training Session' will take place this Sunday, the 26th of October.

We will meet up at 7.30am on the south end of Diamond Island, by the small park with the concrete birds feeding in the ponds. The easiest way to get to this  park is to cross over the southern bridge at the back of Bassac Gardens / Rose Garden Apartments. It is then opposite the building site of the new Canadian International School. It is marked by a red arrow on the map below.

We will start cycling at 7.30am, with hopefully the students completing at least 4 laps of the island. Our experience from last year was that by about 8.30am there was a little bit of traffic on the roads, so it is a good time to stop.

Please can all students bring with them a full water bottle and they should be wearing a cycle helmet. Parents are welcome to  bring their bikes and cycle a few laps with a small group of students. When you leave at 8.30am, please can you sign your child out with one of the teachers present.

ISPP Invitational Swim Meet - Nov 28&29

Dear Parents,

As you may be aware, it is ISPP is hosting an Invitational Swim Meet on Friday the 28th and Saturday the 29th of November. This is a whole school event with swimmers from Elementary and Secondary participating. In total we are expecting 300 swimmers from International Schools in Phnom Penh and from MRISA schools in Laos, Vietnam and Thailand. In order to run the meet successfully we need the help of the ISPP Community.

On the day helpers
We will be needed helpers on the day to perform a variety of roles - timekeepers; marshals; medal sorters and much more! We will be running 3 shifts; Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon, will need about 25 - 30 helpers per session

Host Families
We will be home staying visiting Secondary Swimmers from MRISA schools. We are looking for about 60 ISPP families (Secondary or Elementary) to host 2 swimmers each. The school really values the MRISA concept and sees it as an integral part of the ISPP community. Some of you have children that have enjoyed the hospitality of other MRISA school families and we hope that you will reciprocate such a hosting arrangement. Other ISPP families are also encouraged to participate in this rewarding experience. Hosting requires homestay accommodation for two nights (Friday and Saturday and some transport duties. Lunches and dinner on Saturday evening are provided by ISPP. An exact schedule and the code of conduct will be provided closer to the event.

If you are able to help please complete the form below. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks
Ben

Swim Meet Success

Congratulations to all our swimmers who participated in the Swim Meet at NISC on Saturday. For some it was their first proper meet, while others were busy chasing medals (the team won 24 gold). Our Grade 2-4 team carried on from where they left off last year and were convincing overall Champions.

I hope to organise an after school meet in October, but our next big meet is the ISPP Invitational Meet on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th of November. We are expecting up to 300 swimmers to participate from Phnom Penh, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos. In order to make this meet a success we will be looking for lots of volunteers to perform a variety of roles, including home staying swimmers and helping out as officials on the pool deck - more details to follow soon!
