Initial letter:
Dear Grade 5 Parents,

Grade 5 Overnight Trip ~ Monday 25 & Tuesday 26 February 2018
As part of their learning this year, Grade 5 will participate in an overnight trip. Students will stay one night at the Vkirirom Pine Resort (http://www.vkirirom.com/en/). There are no costs involved. During the trip, students will take part in different activities related to their unit of inquiry which is known as the PYP EXhibition (PYPX).

The  outline program for the trip:
Monday 25 February
07:45 Buses depart school for Vkirirom Pine Resort
11:30 Arrive at the resort. Tents assigned and procedures discussed
12:00 Eat lunch
13:00 Introduction to PYP Exhibition activities
17:00 BBQ dinner
18:30 Team building activities
20:30 Lights out

Tuesday 26 February
06:00 Run and play in the forest
07:00 Breakfast
08:00 PYP Exhibition activities
11:00 Early lunch at the Vkirirom Pine Resort
12:00 Depart Vkirirom Pine Resort
15:30 Arrive at ISPP

The trip will be led by Leticia Carino (PE teacher) and Liz Ford, the Assistant Principal/PYP Coordinator together with the Grade 5 homeroom teachers. We will travel on buses with seat belts, that we will hire for the duration of the trip.

At the Pine Resort, students will sleep in shared tents. We will provide students with an evening meal on the first day and breakfast and lunch on the second day. If your child is signed up to the Epicure lunch plan, they will provide a packed lunch on the first day. If your child brings a lunch from home, then you will need to send them to school on Monday 25 February with a packed lunch that they will take on the day that your child leaves on the trip.

Students need to bring the following items in a small bag:
Complete change of clothes (t-shirt, shorts/trousers/underwear/pyjamas)
Personal wash kit (toothbrush and paste/soap/small towel etc.)
Sunblock and insect repellant
Hat and water bottle
Packed lunch - if not signed up to Epicure lunch plan
Small torch/flashlight (optional)
Reading book or small game to play with friends
Bed sheet
Pillowcase

Students should not bring
Electronic items (phones/iPads etc)
Money
Valuable items
Sweets/candy or snacks

ISPP policy requires that each child has an up-to-date medical travel insurance for all trips. If you do not have insurance, the school can arrange for this to be purchased for the trip (approx. $15). This amount should be paid to the Finance Office.

There will be a parent information meeting on FRIDAY 1 FEBRUARY at 7:45 in the Black Box. In this meeting, we will distribute more detailed information and answer your questions. Information will also be posted on the Elementary PE Blog and the Grade 5 blog.

As this trip is happening outside of Phnom Penh, the generic permission slip sent home at the start of the year does not cover this trip. Please could you complete this electronic permission form here: https://goo.gl/forms/u9jUSWVuoSLmhvjJ3

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at school.

Kind regards,
Paula Baxter
