KG - Fundamental Movement Skills

In this unit the students have been developing a variety of basic movement skills including some ball skills. This morning we welcomed some Grade 6 students into our class and taught them to throw and catch with foam balls and our sticky Velcro balls.

Grade 1 - Throwing, Catching and UFOs

Grade 1 students have been learning different throwing and catching games and playing them with different types of ball. They wondered if you could play them with a frisbee, so we spent some time trying.

Reflecting back on the lesson the students noticed that you have to throw the frisbee differently from a ball; you have to catch the frisbee in a different way; most of them felt that it was harder to play the games; often the frisbee would not go straight like a ball when you threw it; the frisbee was like a UFO going through the air and surprisingly almost all of the students had seen a UFO!

YAPP Basketball

Congratulations to all 56 students who represented the school in the YAPP Basketball festival. We hosted 29 teams from various schools in the city for 72 games of basketball yesterday afternoon. It was a great atmosphere with the right balance of competitiveness and friendly spirit.

Next up is YAPP Football.
