Grade 1 PE

This semester Grade 1 students now get 3 PE lessons a week. While we understand there might be occasions where your washing machine can not keep up with getting the PE uniform clean for all the lesson, we would like to ask for your help in ensuring students always come to class with appropriate footwear.

As we have 3 lesson, we are trialling teaching 2 units at the same time. This means that in some lessons students will be participating in ball games, while in others they will be dancing, both linked to the homeroom unit of inquiry about Emotions.

In our ball games lesson this week, we have been developing our throwing and catching skills as well as playing some games which have had winners and losers. We have looked at the different emotions that occur in these situations and are focusing on how to be a good winner and good losers - which it not that easy!

In our dance lessons the students are going to work in groups to choreograph and perform a dance that represents emotions. We are still at the start of this process and this week we looked at creating dance moves by moving different body to other body parts and linking these moves together to create a simple dance.
