G2/3 Health Habits

This week in PE the Grade 2/3 students have been inquiring into what happens to their heart rate when they perform different types of exercises. They were given a bingo card of different activities and they choose the ones they wanted to play. Activities ranged from traditional sports such as Basketball and Football;  'play activities' such as hula hooping and playing on the climbing frame; fitness tasks with the running around school the most popular; computer lead tasks like "Fat Cat" and ever popular car race on the ipad; to yoga and other quieter activities.

After completing an activity students measure their heart rate on the ipad using my Heart Rate, before recording them on their sheet.

The conclusion - exercise increases our heart rate and the harder we exercise the faster our hear beats as our heart needs to beat faster to get the energy to our muscles.
